At IBC (9-13 September Amsterdam RAI) Genelec will be showcasing its SE™ DSP Monitoring System, the perfect monitoring solution for small recording and mixing spaces, and its multi-award winning 8260Atri-amplified monitors, the flagship model in its hugely popular 8000 series range
“These two products have received a great reception from customers,” says Terho Savolainen, Marketing Manager of Genelec Oy. “Both systems have earned industry awards of which we are very proud, but it is at shows like IBC that we get to hear direct feedback from sound technicians and audio engineers. We are proud to bring both the SE™ DSP and 8260A to an exclusive audience of sound, broadcast and entertainment professionals.”
The Genelec SE™ (Small Environment) DSP System brings a new approach to solving acoustic issues with small recording and mixing environments. Smaller production rooms beg for compact solutions in monitoring and the SE™ DSP System brings easy-to-use and affordable Genelec quality to the sector: “The SE™ DSP Monitoring System is a great example of Genelec’s technical and design excellence,” adds Terho. “Studios come in all different shapes and sizes and with this product line Genelec can offer a compact and affordable monitoring solution for smaller control rooms without compromising on performance and sound quality.”
The SE™ DSP System utilizes the new 10” SE7261A DSP subwoofer in combination with the8130A digital input active monitors. The system can be easily setup into all popular audio configurations from subwoofer-assisted stereo to multi-channel reference systems.
The GLM.SE™ software (V1.2 supports Windows 7 and Mac OS X) brings the entire DSP system together under computer network control. The software control of the SE7261A DSP subwoofer provides all necessary network connections to the host computer and supplies extensive DSP resources for the 8130A digital input loudspeakers through its AES/EBU digital high-pass outputs.
Also being showcased at IBC 2011 is Genelec’s multi-award-winning 8260A Series tri-amplified DSP monitors. A masterpiece in electro-acoustic design, the system features major advances in audio driver technology integrated into a sophisticated enclosure design.
“We knew we had a winner when we launched the 8260A but we had no idea how many people would agree with us” says Terho. “The 8260A has swept the board across the awards and its reputation keeps growing. We are grateful that our industry peers agree with our customers who have come to see the 8260A as the leading monitor on the market.”
Genelec MDC™ Minimum Diffraction Coaxial Mid/High driver technology takes a big step in perfecting audio quality in professional active studio monitors. This breakthrough in coaxial driver design provides more accurate imaging and improved sound quality both on the acoustical axis as well as off-axis. The extremely smooth frequency response leads to outstanding clarity and definition of the inner details of the music.
The 8260A combines, for the first time, a coaxial driver (MDC™) with a modern waveguide technology (DCW™), ensuring drivers to couple coherently over their full operating bandwidth, as well as creating coincident mid-frequency/high frequency point source.
Since its release the 8260A has won a slew of awards for its technical excellence and professional performance and most recently won a MIPA award at Frankfurt MusikMesse, voted for by over 100 magazines from the worldwide music press.
In addition to the SE™ DSP Monitoring System and 8260A Series, Genelec will also be demonstrating the complete 8200 DSP product range and its hugely popular 8000 Series of analogue monitors which are now available in a range of colour options and finished which add a further touch of style to the series while retaining all the strengths of the leading 2-way monitor series.
