What about the reflex ports? – M Series models feature two vent tubes having opening stretching across half of the enclosure depth. To avoid turbulences in the reflex port, the air flow in the tube should not meet any acute angles as this may generate noise, compression, distortion and losses of the total radiated energy. The novel patented Laminar Integral Port (LIP™) has been flow-optimized using computer-based finite element models to achieve low distortion and high efficiency even at very high audio output levels.
The reflex ports are integrated in the M Series innovative Natural Composite Enclosure (NCE™) - a material that is best described as injection-mouldable wood - during the moulding process, avoiding the need for separate additional components. The cross-section plot below illustrates the reflex port efficient flow characteristics and highlights its down-firing output which allows easy placement of the M Series monitors against a wall.
