AES New York 2017 was yet again a tremendous success for us. We had a Genelec Immersive Experience consisting of the new three-way coaxial monitors, the 8331, 8341, and 8351 “The Ones”, along with our new flagship 7380 subwoofer, in a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos configuration.
Our guest presenter Gil Gowing (Digimidi Technical Services) gave multiple fascinating presentations on producing and mixing audio for immersive playback. Gil has been helping audio professionals develop solutions to further their creative process and maximize their potential in the audio technology arena for over 30 years. He has been involved with digital audio and MIDI since the very early days of its inception back in the early ’80’s.
World renowned rock guitarist Gary Hoey also spoke at our booth on his experience with Genelec SAM technology and how the room calibration feature has helped him make mix decisions quicker than ever. Guests were played one of Gary’s songs mixed by Gil Gowing for immersive playback. Aside from the guitar, Gary Hoey is also an engineer producer who is currently working on his second album with Lita Ford.
The new 1032C SAM monitor was also on display at AES this year. Now with the SAM technology, many booth visitors got to open up a laptop and see how GLM works with the 1032 for themselves.
Once again the AES Show was well attended with guests eager to learn about The Ones, our SAM technology, and immersive audio. We would like to thank everyone who came by, and we hope you enjoyed the Genelec Immersive Experience.
