The pristine imaging, extended frequency response, wide sweet spot, high SPL and bulletproof reliability make Genelec monitors the perfect partner for hip hop producers and rappers. This point was there for all to see at the Genelec Lounge at Beatcon in Düsseldorf.

Beatcon is the first ever event in Germany created especially for hip hop producers and rappers. Visitors to the show were treated to top producers showing off their skills and discussing workflows – from beat producing and vocal recording to mixing and mastering – as well as a huge range of guest speakers and concerts taking to the two stages next to the show floor.

Taking place in an old factory and with stands made from EUR pallets (courtesy of SessionDesk), Beatcon definitely had a unique feel. Standing out in this industrial setting, our white range of monitors helped to grab the attention and provided the perfect starting point for many interesting conversations.

The Genelec Lounge made its first appearance at the show as the location for our Beat Review Sessions and Masterclass sessions as well as a rolling program of monitor demonstrations. Visitors to the lounge were able to audition various Genelec monitoring solutions, from the compact nearfield models of the Classic range and ‘The Ones’ series through to our higher-SPL midrange models including the 1238 and S360 - partnered with the 7380 subwoofer

Some of the highlights in the 40-seat, acoustically treated lounge included Masterclasses on Beat Production with Timo Kramer, Vocal Production with Timo Kramer and Vega as well as Room Acoustics and Studio design with Benjamin Koziczinski, Karlheinz Stagmaier and Eric Horstmann. Following these sessions, we were delighted to be able to give away a pair of our 8020Ds to lucky prize draw winners – congratulations to both our winners, we hope you enjoy your new babies.

Thanks to everyone that came, learnt, listened and chatted. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!
