8340A scoops Future Music’s Best Monitor Award

The January 2017 issue of the ever-popular Future Music featured the magazine’s annual Gear of the Year awards: the end-of-year guide to the very best studio equipment of 2016.

We are delighted that the 8340A SAM compact studio monitor was recognised as the category winner in the Best Monitor section, with Future’s editorial team concluding that “with a clear and accurate response right across the frequency range, from tight bass to crisp top-end, these are a real pro-quality option for mid-sized studio spaces. Flexible rear panel control makes it easy to tailor the sound to suit your space, and they provide plenty of power without compromising on dynamic range.”

The 8340A has quickly established itself as the trusted monitoring choice of facilities worldwide. Boasting a 6.5” woofer and 0.75” tweeter - each powered by 150W of our most efficient Class-D amplification to date - the two-way, bi-amplified monitor represents a finely balanced union of acoustic expertise and SAM™ innovation. Additionally, Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) 2.0 software allows for the fine adjustment of all monitor settings, while AutoCal™ compensates for detrimental room influences to perfectly calibrate your set-up for your listening environment, whether you work in simple stereo or ambitious immersive audio.

In addition to the class-leading sound quality and technical prowess of the 8340A, the ultra-compact 8010A studio monitor was also singled out by the Future team for particular praise in the same Best Monitor category: “….they punch considerably above their minimal weight sonically. There’s plenty of power with a clear sound, while bass extension is far more impressive than one would expect from such a diminutive monitor.”

The Future Music award caps an absolutely bumper 2016 for Genelec, in which our monitors were also recognised by Resolution, Music Tech, and the prestigious NAMM TEC awards.
