Genelec invites producers to enter B-Side Project remix competition

If you’re a producer and want to show off your remixing skills in a career-changing competition, then the B-Side Project is offering publishing contracts, $20,000 of studio gear from Genelec, Prism Sound, Shure, ROLI and others - and much, much more...

Now in its seventh year, the B-Side Project is a global remix competition that connects musicians, producers and industry figures across a wide range of genres. It finds original artists and pairs them with electronic music producers from around the world, who then aim to remix their tracks before the competition deadline. The B-Side Project provides real opportunities to release music on established platforms and helps raise artists’ profiles and careers to the next level.

So, how does the competition work?

  • If you’re a producer, simply register before 31st August at You’ll then be sent one of the original artist tracks that have already been submitted to the competition. Once you’ve received your track, you’ll have 4 weeks to work on it and submit your remix.
  • The B-Side Project team will then shortlist the best remix entries, which will then be judged by a panel of industry heavyweights including Roni Size, Utah Saints, Le Roux, Nu:Tone, Clean Bandit and Talvin Singh, among others.
  • Prizes will be awarded for Best Remix Production, Best Remix Arrangement, Most Imaginative Remix, Most Innovative Remix – plus a Public Choice Award.
  • Winners will be announced at the B-Side Project Awards at London’s Strongroom Studios, on 9th December.
  • Each of the remix tracks in the top 10 will be featured on an album to be digitally released on B-Side Recordings.

In last year’s competition, 400 people took part from over 40 countries around the world – and to prove how winning the competition can transform a career, 2014 winner Hugh Hardie went on to sign to Hospital Records and continues to enjoy success as an artist, as well as a spot on the B-Side Project judging panel.

Genelec is delighted that the winner of the Best Remix Production award will receive a pair of 8341A SAM monitors from ‘The Ones’ series - plus a GLM software calibration kit - alongside a Prism Lyra 2 audio converter and products from Shure & ROLI.
