Genelec’s 8000 series, designed by Harri Koskinen, contains active two-way monitors suitable for both home and professional users. The smallest model – 8020A – has been designed for listening environments with limited space, such as home studios or home theaters. The elegant speaker is fully compatible with Apple iPod, allowing you to enjoy your own music collection as if you were in a concert hall. In spite of the speaker’s small size, the performance of 8020A is equal to that of the larger 8000 series speakers. The 8020A is available in black, white and silver.
Genelec’s 8000 series products have been granted two prestigious MIPA (Musikmesse International Press Awards), in 2005 and 2006. The annual Musikmesse International Press Awards (MIPA) are based on the votes of 58 professional audio magazines from all over the world.
The latest product family – two digital loudspeakers (8240A and 8250A, available in champagne colour) and three digital subwoofers (7260A, 7270A and 7271A, available in black) – was launched in March 2006.
Success from the start.
Genelec understood the importance of product design and saw the potential in the young Finnish designer early on. The co-operation between the two parties finally started in 2000 when the 6040A floor-standing active speaker designed by Koskinen was first introduced in Miyake Design Studio Gallery in Tokyo on the occasion of Koskinen’s first solo exhibition. Since then, the co-operation has resulted in a number of top quality products for Genelec. These loudspeakers combine high-class acoustical quality with innovative product design. They have been awarded the Honorary Mention of Fennia Prize in 2003. Koskinen’s all the more international career has been awarded by the prestigious Compasso d’Oro in 2004.
Genelec models 8020A and 8030A are on display at the Artek Gallery Pavilion in Milan (Salone Internazionale del Mobile, 5th – 10th April 2006).
