Grammy Award-Winning Producer Josh Wilbur Dials into the 8351s

In this One on One exclusive, we went to California to find out how Josh uses his 8351s in his new home studio.

“My entire career has been completely inconsistent genre-wise, the only consistent thing I’ve had is Genelec.”

As a highly versatile engineer/producer, Josh Wilbur has worked on some of the most popular albums in pop and rock over the last decade. From P!nk to Korn, Josh's incredibly diverse resume has earned him a GRAMMY & multiple nominations. In the early 2000s, he began recording artists such as NSYNC, Faith Hill, Lil’ Kim and Blaque before heading full steam into the world of rock. Now Josh is known for his work with bands such as Lamb of God, Korn, Hatebreed, Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium and many more.

Josh reveals that his career started on Genelec 1031s when he landed a job at SoundTrack in New York City working with Andy Wallace. “Andy always mixed on the 1031s and then I kind of started mixing, and I was used to them - so I started using 1031s too and kind of stuck with it my whole career.” When he had the opportunity to work in a different studio that had 8351s, he says it was the first time that he’d worked on speakers other than his 1031s that he was actually interested in pursuing.
