The first regular external ESG audit is arranged, to follow up and develop our ESG capabilities.

Genelec is chosen as Green Business of the Year at the UK’s prestigious AV Awards.
Employee Code of Conduct
Our employee Code of Conduct is published and implemented.
A new energy-efficient factory expansion is completed, featuring solar panels, improved HVAC system and a waste handling centre to maximise recycling efficiency.
Pallet Delivery Optimization
Pallet deliveries optimised by reducing the return of pallet collars.
Our electrical energy purchases meet the requirements of the European Union Renewable Energy Directive 2009/28/EC, and our energy supplier is certified by EECS (European Energy Certificate System).

Assembly Time Reduction
Assembly time is reduced by using LEAN, and by increasing product modularity.
Agreement is reached to buy all electricity from renewable energy resources, to reduce CO2 emissions.
Product Power Efficiency Improvements
Power efficiency is improved with new technology, including Class D amplifiers and Switched Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) in main audio monitors.
Evaluation of Supplier Responsibility
Environmental and ethical aspects are added to our supplier auditing system, to enable better evaluation of supplier responsibility.

An internal study to evaluate the carbon footprint of new designs is carried out.

Factory Heating System Change
The factory heating system is changed from regular heating oil to biofuel.
Ecological Footprint Calculation Model Created
A model for calculating our ecological footprint is created and piloted for internal use.
Revision of Core Values
Our core values are revised in a strategy review. Respect and Justice are added to our existing values of Belief, Enthusiasm, and Honesty.
ISO 14001 Standard
Our factory's environmental management system is certified according to the ISO 14001 international standard.

Genelec is Founded
The design philosophy of our first loudspeaker, the S30, is inspired by the technical brief from the Finnish National Broadcaster, YLE. The S30 offers reliability, serviceability, a long lifecycle and a commitment to continuing spare part support. This sustainable approach becomes the cornerstone of all our future designs. At the same time, we make a conscious decision to support our local community by designing and manufacturing all Genelec technology in Iisalmi, Finland.
