Genelec India Celebrates Excellence at the IRAA Awards, Mumbai

Genelec India returns as a main sponsor of the IRAA Awards — India's premier recognition for the art and craft of sound recording — held at PALM Expo, Bombay Exhibition Center, Mumbai.

Genelec India was proud to once again support the Indian Recording Arts Academy (IRAA) Awards, held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai as part of PALM Expo. Now in its milestone edition, the IRAA continues to be the only awards ceremony in India dedicated exclusively to the technical and creative art of sound recording — celebrating the engineers, mixers, and producers who bring music and screen sound to life.

This year's ceremony drew a rich cross-section of India's audio community, from emerging engineers taking their first steps in the craft to established masters working across Bollywood, OTT platforms, documentaries, short films, and sound VFX. The breadth of nominees — spanning theatrical film, web series, independent music, broadcast, and the prestigious Studio of the Year — reflected just how wide and vital India's recording arts ecosystem has become.

The evening was graced by some of the country's most celebrated musical figures. Louiz Banks, Grammy-nominated composer and widely regarded as the Godfather of Indian Jazz, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Ehsaan Noorani of the iconic Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio and Salim Merchant of Salim-Sulaiman were also present, lending the evening the weight of artists who have defined the sound of modern Indian music. Mr. Anil Chopra, the driving force behind IRAA, anchored the ceremony with his longstanding commitment to elevating the recording arts in India.

The awards were evaluated by a distinguished jury led by Vijay Benegal, IRAA Director, alongside an expert panel that included Ashish Saksena (Purple Haze Studios), mastering engineer Donal Whelan (Hafod Mastering, UK), music producer Jim Satya, Mujeeb Dadarkar, Raag Sethi (Compass Box Studio), S. Sivakumar (A.M. Studios), Shantanu Hudlikar, Sreejesh Nair, Subash Sahoo, Yogesh Pradhan, Dr. Pramod Chandorkar, and Indrajit Sharma.

Genelec has been a main sponsor of the IRAA Awards across consecutive editions, and this partnership continues to feel like a natural one. The professionals recognised here — people who make critical decisions about sound every single day — are exactly who Genelec builds monitors for. We look forward to returning next year and continuing to stand alongside India's audio community as it grows in ambition and scale.
