Genelec Artist Room welcomes MayTree

In the second Genelec Artist Room performance from Audioguy Studios in Seoul, we were thrilled to welcome the amazing five piece ‘a cappella’ group.

Formed in 2000, MayTree consists of Sang In Jang on vocals and vocal percussion, soprano Su Yeon Lim, alto Soo Kyung Kang, tenor Young Hoon Kwon, and Won Jong Kim singing bass. Known throughout Korea for their outstanding arrangements and exquisitely blended harmonies, MayTree’s entire performances are based on the pure beauty of the human voice – with no reliance on musical instruments at all.

In the last 20 years, MayTree’s blend of original material and cover versions has seen them win over audiences internationally. In 2014, the group represented their country at the World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia, and took home gold medals in both the jazz and popular choral music categories. To see them triumph in this ‘Olympics’ for vocal groups reminds us that there is so much more to Korean popular music than K-Pop!

In this exclusive performance, the group perform the song 'I Don't Care' for us, and we hope you love it as much as we do...
