Safety Notice: Important Information for Owners of Genelec 8030A and 1029A Monitors
Your Safety
All units leaving the Genelec factory are always individually tested for electrical safety.
Genelec has identified a small number of cases involving discontinued monitor models 8030A and 1029A where the mains power switch has become loose or detached from the monitor enclosure. In some older units, prolonged use over many years or mechanical impacts may contribute to deterioration of the switch material, leading to material failure and causing the mains power switch to become mechanically compromised or detached.
A mains power switch becoming loose or detached from the enclosure is not normal, and continued use of a monitor exhibiting this condition may present a safety risk. Use of a monitor with a loose, detached, or otherwise compromised mains power switch is not permitted.
To ensure the continued safe operation of your monitor, please follow the instructions provided in this notice to arrange for inspection and repair by an authorised Genelec service centre.
Actions Required
If the mains power switch has become loose, detached, or is no longer securely attached to the monitor:
- Stop using the monitor immediately and disconnect it from the mains supply by unplugging the mains cable from the electrical outlet.
- Contact an authorised Genelec service centre for inspection and repair.
- Following repair, always connect the monitor to an electrical outlet equipped with a protective earth connection.
If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact your local Genelec distributor, dealer, or Genelec authorised service. You may also contact Genelec Support directly if you have any additional questions.
