Jarmo Masko

In Memory of Jarmo Masko (1954 – 2019)

On the morning of the 4th of February, the Genelec family lost one of its dearest members when Jarmo Masko passed away.

Born in Finland, but moving to Sweden at an early age, Jarmo had been a key part of the Genelec team for almost 20 years, and had spent the majority of his working life in professional audio. In the late 1970s Jarmo joined Elfa Studio – one of the first pro audio distributors in Sweden – working with iconic brands including Studer, Neumann and Dolby.

In 2001 Jarmo joined Genelec as Area Sales Manager for Europe, and this was a role he fulfilled with great passion, enthusiasm and humour. Jarmo was always looking for ways to improve how we did business, but unfailingly went about his work with a smile on his face, and this made him much-loved by his work colleagues and Genelec’s business partners and customers.

Jarmo played a huge role in the development of our extensive accessories range – realising early on that the ability to mount our loudspeakers in a wide variety of locations was going to help our customers no end. He was right, and whether it was a wall mount, table stand or floor stand Jarmo would have played a big part in its design.

Jarmo also had a particular passion for Italy – the people, the weather, the food and the wine. We all imagined and hoped that Jarmo might enjoy many sunny Italian days in his future retirement enjoying a leisurely meal with friends and family. Sadly this wasn’t to be, but we will always fondly think of him this way.

As well as a fantastic work colleague, Jarmo was a loving husband, father and grandfather and our sincere condolences go to his wife Karin, children Jenny, Mikael and Joel, and his grandchildren Leo, Alicia & Lovika.

We have so much to thank Jarmo for. To say that he will be missed is a huge understatement.

Farewell, friend.
