Genelec previews new PoE subwoofer at ISE 2024
Genelec has been an ISE exhibitor dating right back to the show’s very humble beginnings in Geneva in 2004, so it’s been very gratifying for us as an ‘early adopter’ to see the show develop into the world’s leading AV and systems integration event – attracting over 70,000 visitors from 162 countries this year to Barcelona.
And as our own profile has grown in the world of AV, we’re seeing steadily increasing numbers of visitors to our own booth – where our focus this year was firmly on our Smart IP family of networked loudspeakers, including the first preview of a brand new PoE subwoofer!
Launched in 2019, the Smart IP family has gradually grown to encompass 5 loudspeaker models, all combining exceptional sound quality with single cable networked convenience. Compatible with PoE, Dante and AES67, and integrating closely with our Smart IP Manager software for system configuration, Smart IP represents a flexible, scalable and future-proof solution for installers and integrators everywhere.
We wanted to use the show to gather customer feedback on the potential new Smart IP subwoofer, and the response was overwhelmingly enthusiastic and positive. Running live on the booth as part of a complete Smart IP system, we were able to demonstrate the subwoofer’s impressively high SPL and low distortion performance, powered via PoE and fed via a Dante IP stream. Housed in a slimline package, and with an efficient internal Class D amplifier stage, this represents the world’s first premium PoE subwoofer design, and would add a very powerful new dimension to the Smart IP family. We’ll keep you posted on its development, so please stay tuned!
Alongside the new subwoofer, we showcased the existing 4410, 4420 and 4430 wall-mounting models, the 4435 in-ceiling model and the 4436 pendant model, and demonstrated Smart IP’s compatibility with a growing range of third party automation systems.
As well as welcoming many integrators, distribution partners and press colleagues to our booth, we also took the opportunity to privately showcase the new subwoofer to the influential AV User Group of end users and consultants, and capped the show with a wonderful evening at the Inavation Awards dinner, where we were thrilled to receive the prestigious Manufacturer of the Year award.
